2011 Holiday Gift Guide: Tropical Traditions Organic Moisturizing Lotion Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

As you all know, I just love using the great products from Tropical Traditions!  This time I was given the Lavender Scented Organic Moisturizing Lotion to review!  It works great on my skin!  My skin is already getting dry this fall and I really need to use a moisturizing lotion to protect it.  The Organic Moisturizing Lotion from Tropical Traditions is made from organic virgin coconut oil and organic virgin palm oil.  These lotions are packed with antioxidants using the best quality oils available.  They come in a variety of scents: Lavender, Citrus, Baby Silk, Peppermint, Arnica and Unscented.  The Organic Moisturizing Lotion is so great for the skin and would make a wonderful holiday gift for the ladies on your shopping list!

More About Tropical Traditions Organic Moisturizing Lotion:

Filipinos are well-known for their youthful appearance and soft skin, even though they live in a climate that exposes them to the sun’s rays year round. Coconut oil is their main dietary oil, and is also the main ingredient in their skin care products.

All of the moisturizing lotions that Tropical Traditions offers are made with organic Virgin Coconut Oil and Virgin Palm Oil. No other products on the market are made with finer oils as their base. Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil is traditionally made from fresh organic coconuts, and independent laboratory tests show that it has a higher level of antioxidants than other coconut oils.

Virgin Palm Oil contains high concentrations of a powerful form of Vitamin E called “tocotrienols” which published research has shown is 40–60 times more potent than alpha-tocopherol (the most common form of Vitamin E found as an additive in most skin care products.) In addition to these powerful Vitamin E tocotrienols, Virgin Palm Oil is also rich in natural carotenes. It is one of the richest natural plant sources of carotenes with concentrations of 500–700 ppm. It is 15 times more retinol-equivalent than carrots and 300 times more than tomatoes, for example.

One Year Blogversary Event: Tropical Traditions Coconut Flour Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

As you all know by now, I just love all of the products over at Tropical Traditions! This time I was given the opportunity to try the Organic Coconut Flour! I've heard really great things about this and wanted to try it for myself! I received a 2.2 lb. bag of the Organic Coconut Flour. This first test was making muffins with it. My family and I loved them! The muffins made with the Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Flour has a slight coconut taste to them, which I really liked! Aside from the taste of the coconut flour, there are many health benefits to using it. For those who are allergic to wheat or gluten, coconut flour is a great alternative! Since the coconut flour contains natural sugar, baked goods won't need as much added sugar to taste sweet! There a many FREE recipes on the Tropical Traditions website to give you some ways to use your Organic Coconut Flour!

More About Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Flour:

Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour is fiber from the coconut meat after most of the oil has been extracted to make Virgin Coconut Oil. It is certified organic, unsweetened, and has not been treated with sulfites. Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour is high in dietary fiber and protein, and is gluten-free. It has more fiber than gluten-based grains. Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour can be added to standard wheat-based recipes to add extra fiber, by substituting 10-30% of the grain-based flour with our coconut flour. Some recipes, such as muffins and quick breads, can be accomplished with 100% Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour and therefore be 100% gluten-free! (See some free recipes below.) Since organic coconut flour contains natural sugar from the coconut meat, baked goods need less sugar added. The organic coconut flour has a mildly sweet coconut taste!

Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour also contains over 19% non-gluten protein! Therefore, it makes an excellent addition to shakes and smoothies where fiber and protein are needed. Or simply dissolve a spoonful in water as a high-fiber drink with a coconut flavor! This organic coconut flour is very versatile and very tasty. Sprinkle it over your favorite dishes to add a wonderful coconut flavor, use it as a thickener in soups and sauces - the possibilities are endless!

Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

As you all know by now, I just love all of the products over at Tropical Traditions! This time I was given the opportunity to try the Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment. This hair treatment has several uses; you can use it to cure dry scalp by rubbing in to your scalp and sleeping with it applied (wear a shower cap to bed) You can also use it as a hair conditioner by rubbing it into the ends of your hair after washing. I was really impressed with how soft and shiny it made my hair! The many uses of coconut oil amaze me! I love the fact that it's all natural! You can read more about this hair treatment below:

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment is specially made for hair application. It has a slightly higher amount of protein than our other coconut oils, due to the presence of coconut solids. This Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw and surrounding areas from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines. Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest. The volcanic soil of Mt. Banahaw makes these organic coconuts some of the most nutritionally rich coconuts in the world! Testing done in independent laboratories reveals higher levels of phenolic antioxidants than other coconut oils. The fresh coconut meat is shredded (wet milled), and then cold-pressed using the water from inside the coconuts to make coconut milk. The milk is then allowed to sit for about half a day, while the oil naturally separates from the heavier water. The oil is then filtered from the curds (coconut solids). No chemical or high-heat treatment is used, and this oil contains no trans fatty acids. We do NOT mass produce this oil. It is made by families who are coconut farmers using old-fashioned traditional methods that have been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years. Our coconut trees and family producers are certified organic according to strict USDA standards. The families who produce the oil are also trained according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and re-certified each year. This high-grade Virgin Coconut Oil has a long shelf life due to the high antioxidant properties. The Gold Label standard is our highest standard for Virgin Coconut Oil.

Tropical Traditions: Coconut Peanut Butter Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the products over at Tropical Traditions! I have been given the opportunity to try another one of their products and as usual I am happy to tell you about it! This time my family and I tried the Tropical Traditions Coconut Peanut Butter and we are so happy with the yummy taste! We have been in love with the flavor of the Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil from the very first taste and this Coconut Peanut Butter did not disappoint us in the least! It is not like your ordinary Jif of Peter Pan peanut butter. You will have to stir it before you spread it on your bread or crackers, etc. The oils liquefy on the top therefore making it necessary to stir before use. The flavor is so yummy though! It's worth the extra effort! I love the fact that this is organic and made from only two ingredients: peanuts and coconut! This is a great product for my family and I must say I will be buying more!
More About Tropical Traditions Coconut Peanut Butter:

Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Peanut Butter is made from organic peanuts and organic coconut. Two ingredients: nothing else! No fillers, no binders, no sweeteners, and no preservatives. The peanuts are 100% organic Valencia peanuts grown organically by family farmers in New Mexico and Texas. Grown in the dry climate of the southwestern United States, these peanuts are certified organic and free from aflatoxins. The dried coconut is certified organic coconut meat from the Philippines from coconuts that are grown with no fertilizers or pesticides. This premium dried coconut contains no additives or preservatives, and is not sweetened. Unlike most dried coconut on the market, our dried coconut products are not treated with sulfites to keep them white. Together, these premium organic roasted peanuts and the premium organic dried coconut are ground together to make a delicious and nutritious spread!

Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

I love the cleaning power of bleach in my laundry! What I do not love is when I accidentally pour bleach on my fabrics with color and immediately ruin them! I have tried many Tropical Traditions products in the past and I must say that I love Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach as well! Tropical Traditions is a company that I trust. Their products are good for my family! The Oxygen Bleach is no exception to this! Chlorine bleach contains all kinds of harmful chemicals not found in Oxygen Bleach. You will not have to worry about ruining your colors because Oxygen Bleach is safe for all colored fabrics! It still has that great cleaning power of chlorine bleach, but does not contain all of those harmful chemicals! This product has tons of uses besides just laundry. Read below to discover all of the great uses of Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach.

Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach Product Information:

People have been using chlorine bleach in their laundries since the end of the 18th century. While these products work very well in whitening clothes, chlorine bleaches do have a negative effect upon the environment because of their chemistry. Care must be taken in using chlorine bleach as it is toxic to humans, animals, and plants.* Also, we all have experienced destroying a colored article of clothing because chlorine bleach was accidentally spilled on it.

Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach is a safe and effective alternative to chlorine based products and it can be used in many applications in and around the home. It is based on sodium percarbonate which uses oxygen for destaining and deodorizing. Oxygen Bleach is safe to use at all temperatures, on most washable fabrics, and all colors, in hard or soft water, and is compatible with other household cleaners. Also, it produces no harmful by-products which negatively affect the environment. Unlike chlorine bleach, which can merely cover up a stain, Tropical Traditions Oxygen Bleach attacks and breaks down organic stains to totally remove them from the garment.

Uses and Instructions:

Laundry

  • In the laundry Oxygen Bleach is used to destain, deodorize, and whiten. It is very effective as a laundry presoak for heavily stained articles. For light soils add 1 ounce of Oxygen Bleach with your laundry detergent per load. For moderate soils use 2 ounces and for heavily soiled articles use 4 ounces.
  • To whiten and deodorize diapers add 4-6 ounces of Oxygen Bleach into the soak cycle. Soak in hot water for at least 30 minutes, or overnight, then complete wash cycle.
  • For whitening old linens and yellowed window shears, deodorizing and cleaning tennis shoes, or to get rid of yellow armpit stains on shirts: soak in 2 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of water for at least one hour, or overnight, then rinse.

Kitchen

  • For stained plastic ware, dishes, dish rags and dish towels add 1-2 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to the container to be cleaned or to the dishwater and soak for at least 15 minutes.
  • To keep your drains and disposals clear and smelling fresh add 1 ounce of Oxygen Bleach in 8 ounces of hot water and allow solution to sit in drain overnight.

Bathroom

  • For septic systems add 4 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to toilet and flush into the septic system twice a week.
  • For toilets add 3 ounces of Oxygen Bleach, wait 15 minutes then scrub.
  • For shower curtains soak in one ounce of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of hot water; for mildew stains soak overnight.
  • For bathtub and shower use make a paste of Oxygen Bleach with hot water, scrub with a cloth or sponge, wait 15 minutes then rinse or use.

Yard

  • For deodorizing garbage cans add 1/2 ounce of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of water and let soak.
  • For lawn furniture add 2 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to hot water, scrub, wait 15 minutes, then rinse.
  • For all weather carpeting add 4 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to a gallon of warm water scrub with a stiff broom, wait 20 minutes then rinse.

Household

  • To destain and deodorize carpets add one ounce of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of carpet shampoo prior to cleaning.
  • To remove mold and mildew from carpeting add 2-4 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of hot water, apply generously to stain, wait 10 minutes, then vacuum with extractor.
  • For acoustic tiles add 6 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of hot water, spray on tiles, wait 15 minutes then rinse.
  • For mops add 3 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to a gallon of hot water, soak overnight then rinse.
  • For mildew removal or to clean baseboards or basement floors after water damage from flooding add 4 ounces of Oxygen Bleach to a gallon of hot water, scrub surface, wait 30 minutes then rinse. Oxygen Bleach is safe for use in a closed environment.
  • To clean and deodorize cat litter boxes soak them in 3 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of water for 20 minutes then rinse.
  • For urine, feces, or vomit stains on carpets or upholstery, add one teaspoon of Oxygen Bleach to 8 ounces of water, wipe onto stain, wait 10 minutes then rinse.

Camping

  • To clean and deodorize coolers add 2 ounces of Oxygen Bleach per gallon of hot water, soak for 20 minutes, then rinse.
  • For boat sails, cushions, ropes, camping gear, tents, tarps, etc. add 4 of Oxygen Bleach ounces per gallon of hot water soak for 30 minutes then rinse.

Wood Decks

  • Oxygen Bleach is excellent for cleaning and restoring wood decks. It removes organic stains from leaf stains to BBQ grease, removes mold and mildew as well as sun faded and discolored wood layers. Makes your deck look almost new!!! It doesn’t harm your plants, grass, or landscaping in any way!
  • To clean your deck first remove any loose soils or other matter. Dissolve 6 ounces of Oxygen Bleach Destainer and Deodorizer in a gallon of hot water (generally takes about 5 minutes). Apply to wet deck.
  • For railings a hand pump sprayer does a really excellent job. Wait 10-15 minutes. Scrub with a stiff broom or brush, then rinse. Oxygen Bleach is not suitable for use with silk or wool.
