I am a Purex Insider and I just love getting to try all of their newest products!  I have a family of five and we go through a lot of laundry!!  I just can't do a load of laundry anymore without throwing in some Purex Crystals and I was thrilled to try out one of Purex's newest scents: Aromatherapy Well Being!  I must say it smells fabulous and keeps my clothing smelling fresh and clean for weeks!

Purex Crystals are so easy to use!  A small cup is included on the bottle and you can throw in a little or a lot - depending on your load size and how much fragrance you want in that particular load.  I've never had a problem with it not dissolving fully and sometimes I do use a lot!  (Especially with my kids' stinky sports clothing) 

There are so many scents that it's hard to choose a favorite but right now I sure am loving my Aromatherapy Well Being scent!  It smells like fresh flowers.  It's a really nice scent and not overpowering at all.  It leaves my clothes smelling so fresh and the fragrance lasts for weeks!

There are a total of three new scents in the Aromatherapy product line: Well Being, Energy and Serenity.  I can't wait to try them all!

Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar & Stain Remover Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED

In my house, we know laundry stains!  With three kids I've seen it all!  Baby food, formula, grass stains, blood, and various other stains have made their way onto my family's clothing.  We live on a tight budget and must make our clothing last and I like for our clothing to look nice!  Well recently I was given some help from Purex with the Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar & Stain Remover!  This bar of soap is amazing!  I have found some great uses for it and since it costs only about $1, it's an affordable clothing pretreater and ingredient in homemade laundry detergent, which I'm about to tell you all about!

First I wanted to use the Purex Fels-Naptha Bar as directed on the package as a stain remover.  Normally I use a spray stain remover for my laundry and that has proven to be effective on getting out most stains.  It is pretty pricey though.  As many stains as my family gets on their clothing, I am going through a bottle of spray stain remover every 2 weeks.  That's about $5-$6 a month.  I'm willing to pay that since it keeps our clothes looking good and as I mentioned earlier we don't have a big budget for clothing for our family of five.  Buying stain remover is much less expensive than buying new clothes for our family when clothes are ruined because of stains.  Anyhow, I tried using the Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar and Stain Remover on some of my toughest stains - chocolate milk on my son's white t-shirt,  and baby food on Ava's pink shirt to name a couple.  It was simple!  I just wet the laundry bar and rubbed it on the stain.  I waited a couple of minutes and then threw the stained clothing in the wash and did my laundry like normal.  I checked the stains before throwing them in the dryer and I was amazed that my son's white t-shirt was clean and the baby food stained shirt was clean too!  I will definitely be changing my laundry routine by using the Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar and Stain Remover in place of my old spray bottle.  I will be saving even more money that way!

So, I've always wanted to try it... making my own liquid laundry detergent!  I've been told that it is easy and saves so much money.  I guess I've just been a bit skeptical and lazy...  Well I knew that the Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar and Stain Remover was an ingredient for making my own liquid laundry detergent, so I thought this would be the perfect time to try making it!  I tried a recipe that I found on the internet and began working.

The first step was to grate (or shave with a knife) the bar of Fels-Naptha Laundry Soap.  I just used my normal cheese grater and got to work.  After grating the soap, I brought 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot on the stove.  Once it was boiling, I added the grated bar of Fels-Naptha.

You must stir the soap and water mixture until all of the Purex Fels-Naptha is completely dissolved into the water.  While I was stirring the laundry bar in the pot I began pouring 3 gallons of hot tap water into a 5 gallon bucket.  After the Fels-Naptha was completely dissolved I carefully poured it into the 5 gallon bucket and stirred it all together for a few minutes.

After I stirred the Fels-Naptha bar in for a few minutes I added 1 cup of washing soda and stirred some more.  After it was apparent that the washing soda was mixed in well (about 2 minutes) I added 1/2 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax and stirred for about another 2 minutes.

After I finished stirring, I put a lid on the bucket and let it sit overnight as directed by the recipe I found.  In the morning the liquid laundry detergent had gelled together and needed a bit more stirring.  Then I just used a big measuring cup and poured the homemade laundry detergent into some empty laundry detergent bottles and I have been thrilled with the results!  My laundry is coming clean and smelling nice!  (I do still add my beloved Purex Crystals to my laundry, because I love the smell!)  I am saving quite a bit of money this way!  The ingredients to make homemade laundry detergent are not expensive and after you purchase a box of 20 Mule Team Borax and Washing Soda, they last for many batches of homemade laundry detergent!  So the verdict:  I love making my own laundry detergent!  I feel so domestic when I do it and it feels good to save even more money for my family!

Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar and Stain Remover will now be a staple in my home!  Did you know that it has been around for 100 years!?  For a product to be around that long, they must be doing something right!

I am a proud member of the Purex Insiders!  I love getting to test out their new products and sharing my results with my readers and getting to offer you awesome giveaways!  Well this time I got to try out the new Purex Fabric Softener Sheets in Mountain Breeze Scent.  I was thrilled to see that I can now save money on fabric softener sheets since Purex is always priced lower than the leading brands!  I also know that I don't have to sacrifice quality while spending less money.  Purex products always get my dirty laundry clean and smelling great!

As soon as I opened the package I could smell the freshness of the Mountain Breeze scent!  It smelled so great, that even after I took the box of Purex Fabric Softener Sheets down to the basement, I could still smell the wonderful scent because the papers that came in my Purex Insiders kit were still on the table.  Now that's a smell that lasts!  The next test was washing my family's stinky laundry!  In the summer my family is outdoors a lot!  My kids and husband are always getting dirty and sweaty and that makes for some very stinky and dirty laundry!  I was happy to add the freshness of Purex Fabric Softener Sheets to my laundry routine.  I already use Purex laundry detergent and Purex Crystals for freshness, but this one added step of the fabric softener sheet, added even more freshness to our laundry!  Those stinky smells vanished and were replaced by the lovely Mountain Breeze scent!

I've also noticed less static cling since using the Purex Fabric Softener Sheets.  That's always an embarrassing issue with clothing.  My husband especially experiences this with his nice work clothing.  He normally has to spray a static guard product on his pants and shirts in the morning, but lately he's noticed that he can skip this step since I've added the Purex Fabric Softener Sheets to our laundry routine.  These sheets also work to repel pet hair and lint.  We have two dogs, one is black, so we know all about pet hair sticking to our clothes!  I've noticed less of it sticking to my shirt after snuggling Macie on my lap.  

Another great use for Purex Fabric Softener Sheets is placing them in drawers, trash cans and even stinky gym bags for added freshness!  I tried this with Sam's T-ball bag that contains his stinky shoes, and left it in my car.  My car smelled wonderful when I got back in it the next day!  That gave me the idea to stick a couple of Purex Fabric Softener Sheets under my car seats and my car smells so great now!  The summer heat warms up the dryer sheet for such a wonderful scent!  I can't wait to try the Sweet Lavender Scent as well!
