Far Cry 3 for Xbox 360 - Amazon's Gold Box Deal of the Day! #FarCryGold
I'm a mother of 3 and a childcare provider. I take care of kids and my house all day. I also do accounting work part time for my brother-in-law and work on this lovely blog. With all of these things (and little people) demanding my attention, I get pretty stressed out sometimes. After putting the kiddos to bed and picking up those last pesky toys off of the floor, I'm ready for some "me" time! Sometimes I will catch up on my favorite television shows - like The Biggest Loser and Parenthood and sometimes I like to play video games! After Bella and Sam are asleep, I can sometimes be found playing their video games - their Nintendo DS, the Wii and the Xbox! Emersing myself into the world of Mario and others gives me an outlet where I can relieve stress and just not think about all of the things I have left to do, or the craziness that will ensue the following day! For this reason, among others, I'm super excited to tell you all that Far Cry 3 is Amazon's Gold Box Deal of the Day! This game is normally $59.99, but today only you can pick it up for $34.99 on Amazon! It ships for FREE with Amazon's Super Saver Shipping!
My husband is really excited about this game. He is more into the shooting games than I am. Hey - he's a guy! This game is rated M for Mature, so we always make sure that the kids are in bed before playing any games like this. The graphics on Far Cry 3 look amazing. I'm amazed at how Ubisoft can create such realistic game play! You can explore an island playground as stunningly beautiful as it is diverse from mountain ranges to swampy grasslands and white sandy beaches. You must fight your way through the island's towns, temples, river ports and more. Make sure to order your copy of Far Cry 3 today! This low price of $34.99 ends tonight!

My family and I LOVE the Just Dance games! We were super excited when Ubisoft came out with Just Dance Disney Party! Now with the holidays almost over, we will have a lot more free time and all of us could use more activity after all of those yummy holiday dishes that we over indulged in! We love to work out with the Wii - especially in the winter months when we are couped up indoors. I was especially excited to receive this game because of the daycare kids. I can't take them outside very much since we can't take the babies out in this cold weather. The other workout games that I have are more geared toward adults, but kids can really get into this game since it features all of their favorite Disney songs!
The kids love dancing to all of the classic Disney songs such as: "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast, "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid, "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" from Cinderella and many more! Bella especially loves all of the songs from her favorite Disney Channel shows, such as: "Calling All The Monsters" from A.N.T. Farm, "Hey Jessie" from Jessie, and "Hoedown Throwdown" from Hannah Montana. I really love the Non-Stop Party Shuffle mode because the kids can dance continuously without stopping to pick a new song.

Poptropica Adventures for the Nintendo DS Review #UbiPoptropica
My kids are super excited about a new video game that they received for the Nintendo DS! It's called Poptropica Adventures and not that I've gotten the chance to play it - they honestly haven't stopped - I'm really excited to tell you all about it!
In Poptropica Adventures, the museum is in ruins and you must explore each of the three islands to find artifacts to bring back to the museum to restore it to it's former glory. Your kids can create their own avatar and customize it with hairstyles, clothing and accessories - one of Bella's favorite parts of the game! There are tons of mini games to unlock and play! These are both fun and challenging for my kids! Not too challenging that they are frustrated with the game, but challenging enough to hold their attention to play for longer!

Rabbids Rumble for Nintendo 3DS Review #RabbidsR
My kids love their video games! We are constantly telling them to share and not fight over who's turn it is to play whatever game it is they are arguing over. I'm always on the lookout for fun and challenging games for them, that will keep their attention. We received Rabbids Rumble for the Nintendo 3DS to review from Ubisoft, and my kids are officially addicted! I first let Sam try this game out, thinking that it was more up a boy's alley, but Bella watched him play for a bit and decided that she'd like a turn as well. They both love this super fun game and I'm excited to tell you all about it!
Rabbids are not your cute little run of the mill bunnies. They are wild and crazy creatures that have escaped from the game cartridge and have made their way all over your 3DS and into the real world! The object is to capture as many of the Rabbids as you can throughout 7 challenging levels. My kids have been playing this game for a while and have only made it to level 3. You can capture over 100 Rabbids and each have their own combat abilities. You can play mini-games where the deranged Rabbids escape from your floor or even fight on your kitchen table. With Spot Pass you can add new Rabbids to your collection each week by downloading these rare Rabbids to your Nintendo 3DS. With the Street Pass feature you can gain training bonuses, share your scores and even unlock new Rabbids and other items from other players that you encounter.
My kids think Rabbids Rumble is a really fun game and we'd love to recommend it to kids and adults alike. It's really challenging so will keep my kids busy for a while. It would make an excellent holiday gift as well!

Imagine Fashion Life Nintendo 3DS Review #UbiFashionLife
In Imagine Fashion Life, you can play as three different careers: a fashion model, a fashion designer or a mall owner. As a fashion model, you can walk the runways and pose for glamorous photo shoots. Bella especially likes this mode! She likes to imagine being a fashion model strutting her stuff on the catwalk! As a fashion designer you get to organize fashion shows and create original outfits and even your own brand! Bella loves trying our new ideas and frequently shows her father and me her one of a kind creations. She's always really proud of her designs. You can start with all of the latest trends from 2011 and 2012. The mall owner is my favorite mode to play in! You can arrange the stores how you like, manage your budget and pick all of the latest fashions and cosmetics to sell in your stores! This game is so realistic with the 3D effects. We would both really recommend this game! It would make an awesome gift this holiday!

Imagine Babyz for Nintendo 3DS Review #ImagineBabyz
With Imagine Babyz 3D, you can care for babies ages 6 to 18 months. All of the babies are unique and have their own personalities and abilities. With voice recognition you can talk to your babies, hug them and correct them. The goal of the game is to keep the babies and their parents happy so that you can grow your babysitting business and ultimately open your own daycare center. Bella really enjoys this game and has to check up on her babies every day. She loves changing their outfits and taking care of them. This is the next best thing to being a real babysitter and I think she's learning some new care taking skills and that babies are a lot of work - as well as joy! I would recommend this game to girls wanting to start babysitting. This game would also make a terrific gift this holiday!

Just Dance 4 Review #CleverJD4
Thank you to Ubisoft for sponsoring this post. Please click here to learn more about Ubisoft. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. #UbiChamps
After we bought our Wii, the first game I wanted was Just Dance! I love this game and love breaking out in a sweat to great music with my kids! It's like getting a workout while having good quality family time! Since the first Just Dance game came out, we have bought all of the others as they came out! It's super fun to try out new songs and to learn some new dance moves. With tomorrow being Thanksgiving, we are going to bring Just Dance 4 with us to our my in-laws house for the whole family to try! After we are all done stuffing ourselves with turkey and stuffing, our family likes to play games together. This year we can work off some calories while having a blast with Just Dance 4! My kids and I have been playing it for a couple of weeks now and I'm excited to tell you all about this great game!
This game has over 40 great songs to dance along to! Some of our favorites are "What Make You Beautiful" by One Direction, "Wild Wild West" by Will Smith and "Jailhouse Rock" by Elvis Presley. I love how this edition contains some great hits of today along with some great classics. The kiddos and I have been dancing our butts off with these fun songs and love to learn all of the great dance moves. Now that I've had our precious little girl - who is 11 days old, I have quite a few extra pounds to lose, so I will be playing this game frequently to get back into shape. Now that winter is almost here, we won't be able to get outside as much, so inside exercise is essential. The kids and I can still get some exercise while having a blast with Just Dance 4!
There are so many features to love about this game! The new battle mode is great because you can challenge your friends to 6 rounds of dance battles. The Just Sweat It Out Mode is great for me because of the personalized workout programs live feedback and a calorie counter. This gives me the motivation to work out longer. Bella really loves the Dancer Card where she can keep track of all of her stats - best scores, favorite songs and more.
This Thanksgiving, don't just sit on the couch and let the tryptophan in the turkey make you sleepy. Instead challenge your family to a dance battle with Just Dance 4! It will be so much fun to watch Grandpa and the kids dance the evening away and burn off some of those calories! Make sure to pick up your copy of Just Dance 4 today! This game would also make a great holiday gift for just about anyone on your list!

Funky Barn 3D for Nintendo 3DS Review
This is a really cool game! Bella has been playing it on "Easy", which seems to go pretty well for her. I tried it on "Medium", and it did get a little difficult. Once I get the hang of it more, it will be a great challenge to play it on medium and even hard. I'd really recommend Funky Barn 3D for a great summer boredom buster for your kids!
More About Funky Barn 3D for Nintendo 3DS:
Run your own 3D funky and frenzied farm! Ready to make some wool? Pop your sheep into The Shearing Machine and he will hilariously cannonball out, surprised but shorn. Ready to harvest your crops? Hook up the Flying FruitBox-Haybale-Copter that flies around crazily picking up boxes of fruit and grain. With tons of wacky contraptions and goofy animals, Funky Barn 3D, the first farm simulation game for the Nintendo 3DS, is not your average farm game.
- Raise & manage quirky animals each with their own challenges & eccentric personalities, and that comically interact (i.e. cows love playing with pigs and will do anything to do so, even crash through fences).
- Use new-fangled farm contraptions, such as The Shearing Machine, The Flying FruitBox-Haybale-Copter and The Egg Collector.
- Hands-on farming - via touch screen, shake trees to make fruit fall, build gardens, throw unsuspecting cows into a milking machine, or even shake a cow while it's eating a strawberry to create strawberry milk.
- Strategically build your infrastructure & manage your budget - build water pumps, lay down roads, balance your budget, purchase farm dogs to keep pests away, and keep pollution at bay by planting trees.
- Connect and share with friends - trade rare items & animals, send cyclones & lightning storms, stay connected with friends through the "Enhanced Tag Mode", and interact with other farmers in-game.

ABBA You Can Dance Wii Game Review and 70s Party!
After we had some time to let our food settle, we were ready to dance! ABBA You Can Dance for the Wii is so much fun! I just love being able to dance along with some great music and burn lots of calories while having fun! The kids weren't too familiar with the music, but the adults had a blast remembering the great music of the 70s. This game includes a lot of great songs including "Dancing Queen", "Take a Chance on Me", "SOS", "Mama Mia" and more! Sam just loved watching the disco ball! (It's hard to capture the lights with my camera)
We all had a great time dancing and then we discovered the karaoke mode for this game. The words to all of the songs are printed on the bottom of the screen and you can actually sing a duet with a friend! This was especially fun for "Dancing Queen"! As you can see, Bella and Sam danced long into the evening! They just love dancing along and trying to beat each others high score!

Teaching Our Kids About Money, It's Value and How Important Saving Is!
This post was underwritten by BMO Harris Bank, which offers a matching $25 on a new savings account opened for your child through their Helpful Steps for Parents program. Learn more at bmoharris.com/parents.
As a parent I worry about giving my kids life lessons in money management. I want them to know the importance of saving and also the value of what they have earned. Sam is just three years old, but already we talk about how Mommy and Daddy work and earn money so that we can buy things for our family. "Like trains?" he asks. "Yep, even your trains!" He must also be picking up on our conversations such as me saying "That's too expensive!", or "I have a coupon for that!" The other day he was looking at a toy magazine and told his sister "You don't need that toy, Bella. It's too expensive!" At age three, I think he's getting down the basics of money and it's power to buy his trains!
Bella is seven years old and has a better handle on money and how it works. While my husband was out of work, we sat down and explained to her that we were bringing home less money and were going to have to cut back on some things. She volunteered to quit going to her gymnastic class for a while and started brainstorming on ideas for herself to make money for our family. This literally brought tears to my eyes. Instead of stomping up to her room angry about giving up her gymnastics class, she was offering us help.
At a young age, about 4 years old, I started giving Bella a small allowance for completing chores around the house. I made up a chore chart that we still use today. She does simple things that teach her independence and how to run a household, like wiping off the table, picking up toys, helping with the dishes, making her bed, etc. Kids really like to help out! Start small with their chores and then teach them how to do more and more! After the completion of each chore, I would give her a sticker or check mark and at the end of the week, we would add up her stickers and she would be paid for each one. We paid her 5-10 cents for each one and this would usually add up to $2 - $3 dollars per week.
After receiving her allowance she was thrilled to have her own money! So then it began... "Can we go shopping Mommy?" Now I had to teach her how to manage her money. Although it was only $2 -$3 per week, I didn't want her to spend it all at once. I want her to realize the joy in saving up for something big that she really wants as well as saving for the future. When we did go to the store and she wanted something, we would talk about how much money it would cost and how many weeks it would take her to earn the money for the item. She was starting to understand that you need to be selective about what you spend your money on, because when it's gone, you can't buy anything else until your next pay day! We also opened her a savings account. I explained the importance of saving up her money. I used the example of my husband losing his job. "When Daddy was out of work we had to rely on our savings to buy the things we needed while Daddy was no longer bringing home a pay check." If she puts money in her saving account, it will grow and someday she will have enough money to help her out while she is in college, etc. I'm not sure if she really grasps this yet, but she loves putting money into her own account and seeing the balance increase every time she makes a deposit!
In conclusion, I think these things are important when teaching kids about money and savings:
- Start early! They are never too young to start learning about money!
- When they are able, start getting them involved with household chores.
- Reward them with an allowance - pay them per chore or whatever works for your family. Just make sure they understand that they are being paid for the work they do.
- Try to have them set goals for their money: Save, Donate, Spend.
- Have them start a savings account at a bank, so that they start to understand how a bank works and can watch their money grow!
