ZeroWater Pitcher Review and Giveaway (2 Winners!) - CLOSED!

We drink lots of tap water in our home.  Water is the best thing to keep us hydrated throughout the day and we are told by our doctors to drink at least 8 glasses a day.  I didn't worry too much about the quality of our water until I was given the chance to try the ZeroWater Pitcher.  We have a built in water filter in our refrigerator.  I like drinking the water from the fridge since it's colder and it does taste better than the water from the tap.  My husband is really good about changing the filter every year.  However the last time we changed it, I read on the filter label that it should actually be changed every six months!  Oops!  The refrigerator manual said to change annually, so that's what we had been doing.

A few years back, we got a letter in the mail, that our city had failed a water test and that parts of our city were under a "boil order".  Luckily we weren't in that area, but it still scared me enough to purchase a few gallons of purified water for our family - especially to mix into the babies' formula!

ZeroWater has a really great feature on their website where you can find out what your area's TDS reading is.  What's a TDS reading you may ask?  (Don't feel bad.  I didn't know what it was either.)  TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids.  The following are some facts about TDS:

• TDS can leave an undesirable taste in tap water.
• TDS comes from both natural deposits and man-made sources.
• The FDA requires Purified Bottled Water to achieve a TDS reading between 000-010

Now I was getting excited to put my tap water, and refrigerator filtered water to the test!  Each ZeroWater Pitcher comes with a TDS meter so that you can test your drinking water.  To be totally free of impurities, you would want your meter to read all zeros.  First I tested our tap water and was slightly alarmed at the reading of 165!  Then I checked my local TDS reading on the ZeroWater website which gave me a score of  327!  Yikes!  My filtered refrigerator water was slightly better...  I got a reading of 130.  Then I put my ZeroWater Pitcher to the test and was thrilled to receive a reading of 000 on that glass!

I then took a taste test and the water from the ZeroWater Pitcher tasted so much more refreshing and just cleaner!  I don't know how else to describe it but tasting fresh and clean.  It tasted just like purified bottled water.  The difference is that you don't have plastic bottles to recycle or throw away, or to lug home from the store.  You can save a lot of money by investing in a ZeroWater Pitcher instead of buying all of those bottles of water.  The ZeroWater Pitcher comes in two sizes: 8-cup and 10-cup.  I received the 10-cup size and it fits great in my refrigerator!  I love the blue color, since it matches my kitchen perfectly.
