Building my Stockpile on a $20 Weekly Budget: Week 2

Today I went to Walgreens and added these items to my stockpile.  I went over my $20 budget a bit.  I spent $22.31.  However I was able to add 8,200 points to my Balance Rewards Balance, and received $2.99 in register rewards to use next week!  Hopefully as I roll my points and register rewards forward, my weekly hauls will get bigger!  Here's the breakdown:

  • 5 boxes of Puffs Tissues and 5 bottles of Dawn Dish Soap: $0.99 each and I received 5,000 Balance Rewards Points for buying 10.  I used 2 coupons for $0.25 off Puffs = $9.40/10 ($0.44 per item after points)
  • 2 bottles of Soft Soap Body Wash: $3.99 each and I received 3,000 Balance Rewards points for buying 2 = $4/98 ($2.49 each after points)
  • Mentos Now Mints: $1.99 and I received a Register Reward for $1.99 = FREE after Register Rewards!
  • Trolli Theater Candy Pack: $1 and I received a Register Reward for $1 = FREE after Register Rewards!
I would love to see what you were able to add to your stockpile this week as well!

Building my Stockpile on a $20 Weekly Budget: Week 1

I have a pretty tight budget!  I want to build a stockpile with very little money.  I have budgeted $20 a week for this purpose.  So each week, I am going to see what I can add to my stockpile for only $20.  I will usually shop at Walgreens since in my opinion that is the best place for couponing in my town.  So I hope you will follow along with me each week!  I would love to see what you can score for $20 too!

This week, I checked out the Walgreen's ad and Coupons.com as well as the coupons that can be clipped to my Balance Rewards card.  Here's what I was able to buy for $20.66 (I went over a bit)

Here's the breakdown:

  • Charmin Toilet Paper 12 Double Rolls:  $5.99 -$1.00 online coupon clipped to my Balance Rewards card = $4.99
  • Sparkle Paper Towels 6 rolls: $5.00 - $1.00 coupon from Coupons.com = $4.00
  • 4 assorted zip lock bags: $0.99 each with in ad coupon
  • 3 2-liter bottles of Diet Mountain Dew - 3/$3.00
  • 2 boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch: $2 each - coupon for $1/2 from Coupons.com = $1.50 per box

$20 a Week For Building My Stockpile!

I have been really struggling financially since my divorce.  I always watch that Extreme Couponing show on TLC and wish I could do that!  In reality it is just too hard for me right now.  Being a single working mom of three leaves me with very little time.  However, I decided to start on my stockpile slowly, by matching coupons with sales and money savings apps.  My plan is to budget $20 a week to devote to my stockpile.  Today I did my first trip to Walgreens and while it isn't a massive haul, I am proud!  After sales, coupons, and using Checkout 51, I spent $18.83.

Here is the breakdown of what I bought and what coupons I used:

*Scott Select-a-Size Paper Towels 6 rolls - Regular Price: $6.29, Balance Rewards Savings: $1.80, In-Store Coupon - $1.00 off  Final Price: $3.49

*Cottonelle Clean Care 12 pack: Regular Price: $6.29, Balance Rewards Savings: $1.80, In-Store Coupon - $1.00 off, $1,00 coupon from Coupons.com Final Price: $2.49

*2 Glade Candles 2/$6.00, Received a $2 Register Reward, which I used in the second transaction, I also used a $1/2 coupon from Coupons.com I also redeemed this for a Checkout 51 rebate and saved $0.75 Final Price: $2.25/2.

*6 Assorted Packages of Reclosable Bags (sandwich, quart and gallon)  Regular Price: $13.50  I used the in-ad coupon and received all 6 for $5.94

*Purex Laundry Detergent 50 oz. Regular Price: $4.99, $1.99 sale price for Balance Rewards Members.  (No coupons used)

*Ajax Dish Liquid: On sale of $0.89, (No coupons used)

Total Savings: $23.29!  55% Savings

Hopefully I can do even better next week!
