Christopher Walken: Musical Triple Threat Article and "A Late Quartet" Blu-ray Giveaway! - CLOSED!

CHRISTOPHER WALKEN: MUSICAL TRIPLE THREAT

Debuting on Blu-ray and DVD Feb. 5

A Late Quartet star Christopher Walken has appeared in more than 100 films and TV shows as an actor, but this quirky thespian is also quite musically inclined as well! We'll showcase some of Walken's best musical moments in this feature, including his dancing in the Fat Boy Slim video Weapon of Choice, his singing in Hairspray, and of course, his infamous "cowbell!" skit on Saturday Night Live.

Academy Award® Winners Christopher Walken and Philip Seymour Hoffman strike all the right chords with Academy Award® Nominee Catherine Keener and Mark Ivanir in this powerful story that blends raw emotion with fiery passion to form an unforgettable cinematic masterpiece. After 25 years together, the members of a world-renowned string quartet learn that their beloved cellist (Walken) may soon be forced to retire. But the news stirs up equally painful challenges when competing egos, harbored resentment, and irrepressible lust threaten to derail the group as they struggle to maintain harmony in their music — and their lives.

FATBOY SLIM
Weapon of Choice video
At the turn of the century, if you thought about Fatboy Slim, the Brighton based DJ who brought us: The Rockafeller Skank, Praise You and Right Here Right Now, it is unlikely that Christopher Walken would have been the logical next carriage in your train of thought. However, in April 2001 the video for Weapon of Choice hit our screens and music lovers across the globe saw Cristopher Walken in a whole new light. He danced his way around a deserted shopping mall with an elegance and style which was a revelation to audiences, and went down in music video history, picking up multiple awards at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards and winning the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Short Form Video.

HAIRSPRAY
Timeless Couple
The big-screen version of the Broadway smash, Hairspray paired John Travolta as Edna Turnblad, with a hilarious Christopher Walken as his on-screen husband, Wilbur. It is safe to say that this is not the usual type of character Walken is known to play but he highlighted his acting ability sublimely and won audiences over with the hilarious love-song, Timeless Couple. It is not every day that you see Christopher Walken serenading John Travolta and this is definitely our favourite scene from the movie.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
More Cowbell
If you want to know who will be the next big comedy star in the US, Saturday Night Live (SNL) is the show for you. More of an institution than a programme, this notorious show attracts Hollywood stars in their droves, giving them the opportunity to mock themselves and their personas and provide audiences with a barrel of laughs in the process. Christopher Walken took his chance in April 2000 and gave audiences with laugh-out-loud moments when he became the egotistical music producer ‘the Bruce Dickinson’, who just couldn’t get enough of Gene’s (Will Ferrell) cowbell; “I got a fever, and the only prescription is more Cowbell!” Seriously, you have to check this out, it’s pure comedy gold:
