An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars Movie Review, "Shoot for the Stars" Party and a Giveaway! - CLOSED!

Earlier this month, July 3rd to be exact, a great movie for girls was released from Universal Studios Home Entertainment entitled An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars!  We were so lucky to be given a copy of the Blu-ray combo pack of this movie and Bella and I got to host An American Girl - Shoot for the Stars Party!!!  Bella had some friends over and we ate star shaped cookies, and fruit and cheeses cut into star shapes.  The girls each got a bracelet featuring the movie title and they were thrilled to watch the movie together!

With the summer Olympic games coming up, this movie is perfect for kids!  Bella has taken gymnastics in the past, so she could really relate to this film.  The girls loved watching McKenna learn to juggle her gymnastics career and school work.  I think that American Girl books and dolls portray a great image for our young girls and I hope that they make more of these "An American Girl" movies!  (Especially since I'm having another little girl to enjoy them with!)

After the movie, the girls got to work on an activity sheet from the movie.  The other side had a poster from the movie, which the girls were more than thrilled with!  This activity sheet featured a word search, maze and more to keep the girls occupied.

We all loved the movie and your "American Girl" will too!  Here's a clip from the movie:

Movie Synopsis:

Meet McKenna Brooks(TM), a determined and confident young gymnast, in this all-new modern-day adventure. McKenna(TM) is on track to make the regional competitive gymnastics team but off-track in school, where she's suddenly struggling to keep up. When her teacher suggests a tutor, she's embarrassed and desperate to keep it a secret from her friends. Then a bad fall at the gym sidetracks her from her favorite sport. Will she recover in time to make the team? Can she succeed in school, too? McKenna(TM) needs to focus on her strengths to overcome her challenges - and, with the help of family and friends, find a way to believe in herself again.
