Big Bully CD Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

I want to tell you about a very powerful CD that I received to review. It is the first in the Best Foot Forward Series from Recess Music entitled Big Bully. I think this is a very important CD that you would want your child to listen too. Bullying is a huge problem in our schools. It breaks my heart to hear stories of precious children being bullied. I worry about Bella being bullied in school just about every day. She has come home upset a few times about children pushing her down, calling her names and making fun of her. My heart breaks on these days. Instead of getting mad, I explain to her that she needs to learn from what they did and not make any other child feel that way.

We must all nurture our children and let them know that we are here for them no matter what. If we as parents can teach our children to be kind to their peers, maybe bullying won't be such a problem. In this wonderful children's music CD, Recess Music teaches children about bullying, what it feels like to be bullied and what they can do about it. When I listened to this CD with Bella, she had some questions about bullies and I think it is an important conversation to have. I want my kids to come to me when they have a problem at school and this CD helped us to open the door of communication to talk about this. I would definitely recommend Big Bully to other parents!

The country/rock “Me Last Attitude” by The Happy Crowd helps foster a gracious attitude that includes thinking of others first. Milkshake’s colorful, rocking “Enemies” portrays best friends who, unfortunately, sometimes act like enemies. “One and Only Me” by Janet’s Planet and “I Can Make a Difference” by J. P. Taylor & The Academics emphasize self-understanding and self-validation. The Hill Brothers have fun with “Vicious Vinnie,” a droll minor key song in praise of “talking it out” with teachers. Susan Salidor’s lovely ukulele waltz “I’m Sorry” offers a variety of ideas for how to apologize. More good advice for kids is given on Lyle Cogen’s rap, “No Put Downs,” and Lou Del Bianco’s “Bad Day Today.” In Leslie Bixler’s lyrical “Can You Imagine?” the focus is on empathy, with children being taken through situations where they “take a walk in someone else’s shoes.” Glenn Colton shares more insights about bullies on “Don’t Bully Me,” singing “Bullies are like babies in disguise.” Renee & Jeremy bring the album to a peaceful close with their mellow “Wishing Well,” a song conveying wishes of peace, love and well-being to all.
