Giani Italian Granite Paint Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

My kitchen countertops were old and ugly! They were an off white color and showed stains very well. I was constantly bleaching them to get the stains off. The previous owner of our home had set a hot pot or pan on the countertop and left a burn mark on it and some of the top had actually chipped off. We always talked about getting a new countertop but have never really had the extra money to do so. I had heard about Giani Italian Granite Paint for Countertops and wanted to give it a try. At a $69.95 price tag this paint is a much more affordable option than replacing our countertop! The pictures below are of our countertop before Giani Italian Granite Paint:

I received the Sicilian Sand Giani Italian Granite Paint Countertop kit to review. The first step was to clean the countertop with a brillo pad and of course fix any chips in your countertop with some wood putty. Then I painted the first coat of black onto the countertop. The following picture is of my countertop with the black primer. (It looks gray because of the flash but was really a pretty dark black)


After allowing the black primer coat to dry for at least 8 hours (I just let it dry overnight) you can begin sponging on the 3 paint colors. This creates the granite look on your countertop. After allowing that to dry for 4 hours you must apply the first of two clear topcoats, waiting for the first coat to dry for at least 4 hours. Now don't worry about messing up on the sponging process. Giani Italian Granite Paint sends you an instructional DVD and a practice black poster board for your trial run. It is very hard to mess this up since you can just layer the paint on more as you need it. The following pictures are of the finished countertop! (It looks so much better in person! I had a hard time getting a good picture because of the camera flash.)



I LOVE my new countertops! This is a great way to frugally fix up your countertops! This was a relatively easy application process. You really should dedicate a weekend to this because of all of the drying time in between steps. The final result is so worth it though! When people come to my home they can't believe how great my countertops look! It honestly looks like we got brand new countertops!
