My Daily Thrifty Tip for January 4, 2011

#36 Is it cheaper to grate your own cheese? Remember my thrifty tip about cost per ounce? Try this with shredded cheese.... Are the blocks of cheddar less expensive (per ounce) than the bag of shredded cheddar? If so, think about grating your own cheese. This takes a bit more time, but it's a great way to shave some cash off of your grocery bill!

This is a great tip! I always look at the cost per ounce of everything. The one thing I have found is that block cheese is usually cheaper if your cheese comes in a block form. We eat lots of white motzerella. I usually buy this in large quanities because I can not find it in a block form.
