My Daily Thrifty Tip for January 31, 2011

#63 Reuse parmesan cheese containers. A great use for your empty parmesan cheese container is to store baking items such as powdered sugar, baking soda and flour in. The larger side works well for spooning out a little and the shaker side is great when you need to shake out a little onto a surface or onto food.

What a great idea. I have an empty container that I saved the other day, thought maybe I could use it someday. Well, thanks to you...today is the day. Thanks for sharing this tip.

If you ever buy the big (i think 2 lb?) containers of shredded Parmesan from Costco, they make wonderful canisters for ice melt when you are done. What's nice is you can keep them on a porch or in the car, and the flip top is easy to use even with gloves on!
(but I sure do love being back in SoCal and not having to deal with the snow...)
