My Daily Thrifty Tip for December 28, 2010

#29 Try using dehydrated milk. If you don't have small children and don't use much milk in your household, try dehydrated milk - powdered milk that usually comes in a box. It doesn't spoil and it's uses are varied - from kitchen to garden to bath. You can add water to it per package directions and use it in any recipe that calls for milk. You can also just drink it like milk, however some people find the taste disagreeable. I have tried mixing it with whole milk (half and half) and it makes something similar to 2% milk. This is a great option when the milk prices are soaring! It is also a great option for those who are tired of throwing away sour milk that hasn't gotten used up in time. You can make smaller servings when you buy the dehydrated milk!
