My Daily Thrifty Tip for December 6, 2010
#7 Start a Family Movie Night with your kids! Have you been to the movies lately? We took our daughter to see Megamind in 3D a couple of weeks ago. We each had to pay $9 for tickets and then of course we had to buy popcorn and sodas, so our total cost was $34.50! (We left our son with my sister because he is only two and I don't think he is ready to sit through a movie.) With a $34.50 price tag it is easy to see why we normally opt for an at home "Family Movie Night"
My kids love Family Movie Night! We usually rent a movie from Red Box ($1) or borrow a movie from the library (FREE). I pop some popcorn and put "surprises" in it (usually M&Ms or Skittles) We all relax and snuggle on the couch and loveseat, or the kids bring down their sleeping bags. It's alot of fun and promotes family time. My daughter loves it so much that we threaten to take her Family Movie Night privilege away if she doesn't do "X", and it always works!
Family Movie Night... all of the movie fun without the $34.50 price tag!
