I Am Happy With Sukey Molloy Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

On rainy days when the kiddos can't get outside, we love to dance to get our energy out!  I was recently given a copy of Sukey Molloy's newest CD entitled I Am Happy!  It is such a great CD for kids!  The music is very upbeat and Sukey Molloy's voice is very soothing to kids!  The kids love to listen to this CD.  We especially like "I Put My Scarf On My Head"  We have lots of scarves that I let the kids play with and they love acting out the words of the song.  This is a wonderful CD for preschoolers.  I would highly recommend it to parents and caregivers!

With NAPPA, Children’s Music Web, Preferred Choice, and Mom’s Choice Awards proudly in hand, independent children’s musician Sukey Molloy is delighted to announce the April 24 release of her third CD, I Am Happy! with Sukey Molloy.  The 18-track album for young children is imbued with the gentle, magical atmosphere and up-close, personal style that has become Sukey Molloy’s calling card.

With a focus on age-appropriate material that encourages participation, Sukey Molloy’s music is just right for the youngest listeners.  Her voice has a happy, reassuringly intimate presence that draws children into a safe and trusting relationship as they listen, sing, and move along.  While Sukey’s lyrics and melodies express a sweet, childlike nuance, she doesn’t compromise when it comes to production values. Joining Sukey Molloy as co-producer of I Am Happy! is Grammy-winner Larry Alexander, who brings to the new release his work with some of the biggest stars in the music business, including Diana Ross (six albums), Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Bon Jovi, and David Bowie, to name but a few.

Throughout I Am Happy!, Sukey Molloy exudes a sense of fun, wonder, and joy to which children readily connect. Explains Sukey, “My music is intentionally created to relate directly with the young child, and it’s very important to me, as I write, to sense each song from the child’s point of view. My goal in making I Am Happy! has been a simple one:  to share music that makes children feel happy!   In all my work, I invite kids to participate, and on I Am Happy! I find this, in a playful way, through nature themes such as snow, sun, rain, fire and water, and by incorporating animal sounds like fish, rhinos, penguins and ducks. Every song encourages children to try movements and sounds as they sing along.”

Carole Demas of WPIX-TV’s beloved program, The Magic Garden, praised Sukey Molloy as “soothing and patient, assuring to parents about the welfare and education of the very young.”  Sukey’s award-winning body of work includes the CDs Circle Songs! with Sukey Molloy (2005; Children’s Music Web Award, Parent to Parent Adding Wisdom Award), I Like to Sing! with Sukey Molloy (2007; NAPPA Honors Award), and two Sukey’s Circle! DVDs (2009 and 2010; NAPPA Honors Award, Moms’ Choice Gold Award, Preferred Choice Award, NAPPA Rising Star Commendation),

Trained as a professional modern dancer in New York City, Sukey Molloy performed and toured as a member of the Solomon’s Company/Dance and went on to study developmental movement with former Olympian, Garland O’Quinn, Ph.D., and infant development at the School for Body Mind Centering with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. Sukey began designing and teaching music and movement programs in 1985 and, in 2005, launched her own Nyack, NY-based PlayMove&Sing, Inc. program of “Mommy & Me” and pre-K classes and teacher training workshops.  By 2007, Sukey had created the Sukey Molloy (Circle Song) Show, charming young audiences in live appearances with programs filled with musical storytelling, stuffed felt characters, and fun, interactive songs.  Coming next from Sukey Molloy will be a new lullaby album, I Am Sleepy!

  5. I love that her songs actually teach children something. She puts thought into her music. It's nice to see someone with an early childhood education background engaging children with music.
